The Connecticut Mirror State Budget Reporter Keith Phaneuf provides a sobering yet entertaining speech about Connecticut’s profound budget challenges: what exactly are the challenges, how did we get here, and what are our options going forward (hint: none of them are pretty)?  Q&A sessions follows his presentation. Award-winning reporter Phaneuf has been The Connecticut Mirror’s State Budget Reporter since 2010. In this role he analyzes and reports on all aspects of state government finances, including the budget development process, pension funding, income tax equity, waste in government, and the impact of the state’s budgeting and financial policy decisions. He was the State Capitol Bureau Chief for The Journal Inquirer of Manchester, a reporter for The New London Day and a contributing writer to The New York Times. Keith is a graduate of and a former journalism instructor at the University of Connecticut.
