You may have heard that the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services issued guidance expanding the meals tax to new food and beverage items sold in grocery stores. I want you to know that this was not authorized by the most recent budget, either in text or legislative intent. Today, I signed a letter imploring the Department undo this mistake and comply with the law.
