PSA: Don’t be fooled. “Unaffiliated” is NOT the same as “Independent.”

After a very misleading post by a Fairfield Republican candidate, we felt it important to clear the air about “unaffiliated” vs. “independent” voters. “Unaffiliated” voters are those who have not registered with ANY political party. They are NOT members of the Independent Party, a right wing political party with a very deceptive name. When you see Republican candidates boasting that they're endorsed by “The Independent Party of CT,” and conflating that with unaffiliated voters, you are being deceived. Please make sure your friends, family, and neighbors understand this important distinction as well.

To be clear, while our Democratic candidates welcome the support of unaffiliated voters, they would NOT want an endorsement from the right wing, regressive Independent Party of CT.
