First thing this morning, I became an original cosponsor of the Keep Families Together Act, which would stop border agents from cruelly separating families as they enter our country.

It is unacceptable, on a fundamental moral level, for children to be taken from the arms of their parents. We cannot tolerate it. We are better than this.

I’m calling on the President and the Attorney General to immediately end this policy, which is in their power. If they remain unwilling to do so, I will fight as hard as possible for a legislative solution.

History will look back on those who failed to act in these days and judge them for their cowardice. The unjust imprisonment of innocent children, stripped from their parents, is a stain on our nation, and only by raising our millions of voices together in opposition can we hope the right this terrible wrong.
