WDTC Membership Caucus Jan 9 8pm

All Wilton DTC positions on the DTC expire on March 6, 2018.

The DTC will sponsor a Caucus to endorse candidates for the new DTC on January 9, 2018, at Comstock Community Center. Our regular monthly DTC meeting will be held at 7:30pm that evening, and the Caucus will begin at 8:00pm.

Due to increased registration in the Democratic Party in Wilton, we have 5 new membership positions open. If you are interested in becoming a member or an officer of the DTC and stepping up for the truly important 2018 State and Federal elections please get in touch with our acting Chair, tomdubin@optonline.net. Chris Murphy will be defending his Senate seat and Jim Himes will be defending his House seat; and of course the Governor’s seat and other senior State positions will be hotly contested and must be held by Democrats. We need all hands on board during this important year for Democrats.

Our DTC has been working remarkably well, and we are eager to keep things moving forward with the effectiveness that Deborah and others have established for us. Join us!

What’s a Caucus?

A few notes about the Caucus:

  • The purpose of the Caucus is for the 2016-2018 DTC to make endorsements regarding composition of the 2018-2020 DTC. People who do not receive an endorsement at the Caucus may decide to challenge those endorsed candidates through a primary (the process for this is available at the Town Clerk’s office). I think this is unlikely to occur, but it is a possibility.
  • The Caucus is open to all Democrats who are registered in Wilton.
  • We advertise the time and place of the Caucus in one or more local newspapers, as well as through our website and social media.
  • If nobody files for a primary challenge, the people who are endorsed at the Caucus will be deemed lawfully elected as of January 31, 2018.
